API test kit advisory

Just thought id give everyone another test kit advisory.

My tanks calc has been running 380-400 for as long as I can remember. I use API's calc tests and always found them to be pretty good. I just ran out of calc and bought a new kit. My new kit doesnt change at 500+. There is no way my calc went from 400 to over 500. My alk is stable so my kit says at 9 dkh as per my API test :(. I once was a steady believer in API for reliabilty only. I never really trusted any kit to be acurate but at least steady at what ever reading I was getting. I have to say I am now pretty sure there is no such thing as a acurate or steady test kit on the market. The only thing that really bothers me is that they have to know that a person checking calc is a more than normal salt water tank keeper. The average Joe wouldnt check calc. They are selling these kits to us and in no way care about the outcome of the readings they provide. I hate a company that doesnt care about their product. Ok maybe thats a little harsh but how could they care if the kits they sell are that far off from one another. They lost me as a customer. Now the question is where to go from here. Probes are no better IMO. Guess Ill just have to start useing the taste test. Cant be any less acurate.

Can you post your criteria for the taste testing?

LMAO yea..I chew a tums then dip my fingure in my tank and lick my fingure. If they both have the same chalky taste your good to go.
