aptacia eaters

Most butterfly's do from what I hear, but they either have very specialised diets we can't reproduce in aquariums, aren't reef safe or grow too big for any tank under 100+gallons. Filefish might be another option, although how reefs age they are depends on the fish. Peppermint shrimp and berghia nudibranches eat it, although the peppermint might be a hit or miss it is easier to keep alive long term

+ 1 peppermint shrimp
Filefish are supposed to as well, but mine never did (Still, cool fish but not considered totally reef safe)

Some copper banded butterfly fish will eat aiptasia, some file fish will, some peppermint shrimp will. None of these are reliable in this regard. Berghia nudibranchs will. Racoon butterfly fish will but are not coral safe.

I'm not sure how many of these pests anemones your dealing with, but if you can remove the rocks with ease you could always burn them off with a cigarette lighter. It only takes a matter of seconds sometimes and that black residue left behind usually rubs right off. Definitely something to think about. GL.

Yes. Tiny blow torches work great as well.

Joe's Juice works well too as long as you aren't infested. I keep some on hand just in case I every get one that pops up.

Steve is there any downside to getting some of these nudi's? :reading:

I had 2 of the common filefish in my tank for a long time. I know for sure that at least one of them was eating the aptasia bc they both decided to jump out and die within weeks of each other. About a week after the second one died I started seeing small aptasia.
Peppermint Shrimp never worked for me
Had a HUGE infestation in a tank a few years ago. I used Bergia nudibranchs for that one and they did do the job BUT It literally takes months for them to do their work!
Its like One day there are hundreds of Aptasia Next day they start disappearing by dozens a day until they are gone. It really was very cool to watch.
