Aptasia / peppermint shrimp

ok so I have a question..... I placed some old ... old ....... old base rock froma previous tank into my refugium a couple of weeks ago...... the rock had been dried out for over a year and i cured and cleaned it. then all of a sudden i noticed a few aptasia in my refugium. 1) i am assuming they came from the old rock I had and 2) i didn't know that they could live on dried out rock for over a year and when re-hydrated re appear. Over the course of a few days not only did my refugium have aptasia all over now so does my main tank. again i am assuming it is from my old rock since i haven't added anything else to the tank in over 3 months. I am thinking of adding a few pepppermint shrimp but here is my main question and concern. I have seen previous peppermint shrimp that I have had take down a lyertail anthias. If they can do that would they eat all of my pods and minni crustacian life i have growing in my refugium? right now I have a large colony growing throughout my display tank and refugium, and im hoping to add a mandarin goby to the display tank so I do not want to deplete the population, and then if I add the shrimp to the main tank to get rid of the problem should I also add them to the refugium to destroy the source? any idea suggestions?

IMO i think getting rid of aptasia is most important. I have a few peppermints in my tank and they have been working out for over a year. I think you should put them in the sump first, get the problem under control. Once under control, return most of them and put the rest in the display tank.
