ive had a 20 gal for years and one day got some coral from a lfs and i dident know at the time but it had aptasia on it well to make a long story short i have been fighting this stuff for a while now..im going to set up a 125gal now so i just decided to sell my live stock to the lfs and start over but what i wanted to do was use the rock i have in my 20 and put it in my 125 as base rock but i dont want the aptasia to get in there...is there any way i can get rid:rollface of the stuff for sure before i use it as base rock...i was thinking about drying it out then cleaning it...if there is no sure way i would just rather not use the stuff...thanks for the input

thats what i was thinking too but wasent sure i was going to dry it out or maybe soak it in ro/di water...i just dont want this nasty stuff in my new tank

If you want to keep the rock alive and well you can try several things i have heard. first buy some peppermint shrimp and they will take out the small ones and u can zap the big ones. second try prime i have used it before on apptasia it just melts it i have gotten it straight on a colony of zoes and it didnt affect them at all. Last u can also just soak it in straight buffered R/O water for a while. i have tried all of these and depending on the situation it has worked. good luck.

+1 for peppermint shrimp worked for me. If your using it for base rock and not live rock than soak and scrub it with vinegar, that should take care of it. Good luck
