Aptasia

Aiptasia move around for optimal light, current and feeding opportunity, so they might still be there. Also, if you saw four, there are probably 10 more you can't see.

I figured there were some I couldn't see. I have looked in the tank several times a day every day since I spotted them almost a week ago and all four were always in the exact same spot. One was in the sand and that is the first one I noticed missing. I figured a snail or something could have knocked it up in the current. Then I looked for the other 3 and they are gone as well. I looked closely inch by inch over the entire tank and can not locate a single aptasia. I realize there are more than likely a few more in there that are hidden from view, but I am sure the shrimp had something to do with at least some if not all the four that disappeared at the same time. I will keep a watch and post any changes.

That's great! Peps do eat them, sometimes hit and miss, but sounds like you're on the roll with some good Peps.

BTW, met your FIL a couple days ago:)

My father in law Ray is a great guy. He is very active at that Elk's Lodge. He told my wife he met some nice people after the swap. I am hoping for a continued relationship between SLASH and the lodge. I think that venue was perfect. Getting 2 beers and 2 brats for under $10 was the icing on the cake.

The good news is the aptasia hasn't returned. Still no sign of any. The bad news is I put a nice sized piece of frogspawn in the tank and one of the shrimps went after it like a pit bull. I think I need a shrimp trap.

I took the frogspawn out of the dt and put it back in qt. I made a trap with a water bottle and placed it i the tank. The shrimps are curious but haven't gone all the way in. It's been about 45 minutes. I guess I will leave it overnight. Anyone have a favorite brand of cocktail sauce?

When I was trying to catch a damsel with a bottle trap I caught my three peppermint shrimp every night. Took a few nights to actually catch the fish but the shrimp every time.

That is comforting. I need to stop watching it and just check in the morning. What did you use for bait?

Good to know. I have pellet food in there now. That is what I have been feeding them. If that doesn't work tonight then I will get some frozen shrimp at the store.

That's for the input.

pit bull, and scissor hands are in my sump now. I want to leave them there for awhile to make sure any aptasia that may be hiding in there are eradicated. Also want to make sure no aptasia come back in my dt before I get rid of them. If someone has need of thier services I can loan them out.
