Aqua C Remora HOB HELP!!!!!!

My 34g tank is about 2 months old.. My skimmer was bubbling up and had just the basic brown and green crap in the cup before I had any fish in there. Now that I have added 2 small Ocellaris clowns it hasn't produced anything! They have been in there for 6 days. I feed only as much as they can eat in a min or 2. I have Xenia, small colony of green star polyps and two 5 head hammer frags. Maybe its because I installed a media basket with Chemi pure elite, purigen and filter floss?? I find it hard to believe that my water is THAT clean. lol

Anybody with insight or advice would be more than welcomed.

If you dosed your tank with some chemicals then it can cause your skimmer to act up.

A couple possibilities to throw out.

Sounds like you just started your tank, so yeah... it probably pulled a bunch of junk out during the cycle. Now that it's taken care of the initial junk, your water is probably pretty clean. Not sure how big of tank we're talking, but two little clowns probably won't create much skimmable stuff in just 6 days. So yes, your water *could* be that clean!

Or... have you cleaned the neck of the skimmer collection cup? You need to clean that every week or two to keep the skimmer efficiency up. Once junk starts collecting on that, it makes it harder for the skimmate to climb the tube and get into the collection cup.

Better skimmer options available but the remora's will do a decent job if you don't plan to keep difficult animals.

How long has the new media basket and floss been in? 6 days?

If the basket and floss have just been added then thats your problem. Any new equipment (even when rinsed in vinegar) will shut down a skimmer for a while. It may take a day or two before things get slimed up and conditioned enough to let the surface tension of the bubbles settle down in the skimmer.

resist fiddling and hands in the tank and just give it a little time

I had the same skimmer and find it quite interesting that when you added the Chemi pure it stopped skimming, mine did the same thing and took about 2 weeks after to get only a quarter amount skimmate and continued doing so from then on.
