aqua pod or nano cube

I am instrested in starting a nano tank. I have been lookin at differnt brands I have narrowed it down to these to brands the aqua pod and the nano cube. Wich do you guys think is a better tank for nano reef keeping?

The nanocubes dimensions to the nanocubes. I have a nanocube 12 dx in cycling. I think that the nanocube is great.

I have to say, I've had both set up and both have their ups and downs.

Nano Cube
PROS
* Better built hood
* Better cooling
CONS
* Chambers in back run straight across - not seperated
* Hood has less room for light upgrade
* External ballast - can be a pro for heat issues as well

Aquapod
PROS
* Wider than nanocubes
* More room in hood for lighting upgrades
* Better stock bulbs
* Better compartments in back
* Actual overflow
CONS
* Fission skimmer doesnt fit in the 12gal
* Heat issue
* Cheaply made

Let me rephrase that. The skimmer fits, but only if you feel like changing the collection cup every five minutes. It doesnt fit if you want to tube it out the back into a collection bottle or something.

for the aqua pod is it comon to have heat issues. If so how can you fix it.

Not sure if you are looking for a 12g or 24g tank but browsing thru N-R forum someone posted a link for the nano cube 24g with 150W HQI for $299 (from nanotuners.com) which is not bad compare to the AP 24g with 70W HQI same price (from petsolutions.com and Dr Foster). I think I might pu a cube w/150W.

I would stay away from the JBJ Nano Cube.... I ordered a cube that came in scratched and so I returned it.....received the replacement which came scratched as well....JBJ then sent me a replacement from their warehouse that had scratches on it.
I have given up on JBJ's Nano ..as they have some serious quality control issues.

I too had a not-so-great experience with JBJ (don't worry I'm not totally dissing JBJ or "plugging" Aquapod, just sharing an experience). After all the research deciding between the Aquapod and Nanocube, I went with the Nanocube, thinking the horror stories of a leaking or cracked tank would never happen to me. I put my sand in, began to fill it up with water, and a small stream of water came pouring from underneath. I thought, maybe I spilled a little water when filling the tank, but nope, there were two places on the tank where the seam was not sealed and it was cracked. The tank arrived in what appeared to be perfect condition, no marks on the box, etc, and I removed it as carefully as humanly possible as to not stress any parts of the tank.

For what it's worth Oceanic is coming out with a new "cube". If you cannot find info on it e-mail them from their site at www.oceanic.com and they will send you the info. Due out in Late June, 3 available sizes.

Worth checking into.
