Ok I need serious help, I tried gluing some corals on those frag blocks I bought at the meeting and was having some EXTREME difficulty I tried out of water and drying the bottom of the coral i tried under water I tried the combination of the two what is the trick? I'm using "super glue GEL" was i was told but is there a special brand if so what store do you buy it at? I swear I have like huge globs on it and i couldn't still barely get it to stick.

It kind of depends on what coral youre gluing. I never have luck gluing mushrooms since they are so slimy. They always come back off.

Softies are better to use the mesh method(take some mesh material(or wedding veil or fishnet stocking type material) and gently wrap the coral, but not so that it can't get light or water flow. After a few day-a week or two, the coral should be attacked to the plug.

i makea blob of glue (more is more for me haha) on the bottom of the dry part of the frag, put in water real quick, then mash the bottom onto where i want to put it - the glue will be in like a little hardened bubble but its wet inside so once you pierce it the glue squishes out and will actually stick to stuf- but it hardens really fast

pain in the neck but a necessity for having stuff up on the rockwork if you dont want it getting knocked over by snails and what not

Ive all but given up on glue and will resort to threading fishing line thorugh softies on my next fragging venture. check the sticky on the top of the coral propagation forum and you will see some good info.

Yea these are hard corals i'm trying and i saw how it hardens when it hits the water but still just seems like i'm doing something wrong. and that was just gluing them to the frag peice I tried a couple directly to the rock and that was really struggling

i use superglue gel. dry the plugs and dab the bottom of the coral and let it stand out of water for a minute or 2 and then dip them in a iodine solution and set in tank under low flow for hour of so and the will hold. i've been doing it this way for sometime now and works well. if you are doing acro's monti's try drilling a small hold in the plug and setting the bottom of the shaft in. this will also help. by the way are you the guy that bought all of the corals on saturday night. if so don't use the plugs. they are not cured. the guy said they were but the ph reading is off the charts. my buddy george got the other 2 bags and tested and not good. they need to be cured.

Duro gel glue, in the blue package. Make sure that you "twist" so that it pops the glue bubble. (if you do it under water)

I found the easiest method is to insure as flat a cut on the acro frag or a nice hole in the rock or plug as skinnyjoe stated to place the end of the frag into, a masonary bit using a power drill at low speed with light pressure works well. Applying the gel cyano glue and placing the frag gently into the hole flatlt against the plug/rock for a few seconds and using a piece of egg crate held out of water for a minute or two to allow some drying time, don't worry the acros, caps and digi's can handle the lack of water for short periods. Best luck to you.

Joe and George, those are really good tips! Ill keep all that in mind when the day comes and I have alot of sps to frag!
