aqua wood stand

RANT WARNING!!

So back in May my wife and I bought a new stand/canopy for our 180 gallon tank from fish tank direct who then has the stand made from aqua wood. We ended up spending 2300 for the stand and canopy. delivery day came inspected it and set it all up. Three weeks after two doors split and the center door cracked where they glue the piece where the right door closes on. Call fish tank direct who contacted aquawood for three new doors. Now this is back in May. Waited waited and waited some more. July came still no doors so called again and again. Fish tank direct tried getting in touch with aqua wood but nothing. finally aqua wood answered and told fish tank direct the doors were sent but fedex lost them... Yet I asked for a tracking number and they couldn't even give me that. so I doubt they really made new doors. Now we are into November when we could finally get in touch with aqua wood again. New doors were finally sent and arrived today.... Door one (right) cut way to big hits stand. Door two (center) completely split like he forgot to glue it which then split the wood during shipping. Door three (Left) Big spots of where he forgot to paint the door. By the time I got home from work Fish tank direct was already closed. At this point by the disgusting workmanship I am now questioning this stand that is in my living room holding up 180 gallons of water. And after the nightmare trying to even get three new doors back I just want our 2,300 dollars back. If I really have to and this ends up being yet another nightmare I might try and call discover and fight this to be removed from our credit card. Or maybe lawyers involved. Which I doubt either will work but right now I am seeing flames coming out of my ears

i understand at this point you want them just to make it right but for a few doors i would just measure it up and do it myself. or, if you're not handy that way get an experienced local woodworker to do it for you. doors are very easy to fashion up and you get the peace of mind in knowing that they're not using whatever crap was splitting to begin with.
in my 30+ years of fishkeeping i have yet to see a commercially built fish tank stand that was built with any quality.

I'm good with cars.... wood not so much. The frustrating part is that we spent A LOT of money on this stand. I'll know more when I call tomorrow. If I have to I'll find some one local to make some doors. Maybe I should have my wife call instead, she has a better temper :lolspin:

If the doors are that crappy, I would have trouble trusting the stand also. Pictures would help. Lots of pictures. Especially inside the stand where the joinery will be visible.

I also second the thought, assuming the stand is sound, of having someone local make new doors. If you can't find a local to do it, both www.woodcraft.com and www.rockler.com can make them to whatever dimensions you want.

If you were local to me, doors are a simple little project.

ive been in touch with fish tank direct all day today and they said they have never had this happen with aqua wood. Said they feel terrible and will make this right any way they can. I am a little nervous about this stand now that the doors were made like this. I have taken a level to it and is still even with no separation of any of the joints. if for whatever reason they cant get this right this time I will just take it as a loss and get doors made from a local guy

Got three new doors today from Aqua wood......... one cracked, one not glued properly so the center piece moves around and yet again another one with missing paint.

If they send another set that will be the forth set. I guess the owner of fish tank direct will be contacting the owner of Aqua wood. See what happens. I already told them I don't want new doors and if I ever produced work like this at my career I'd be fired
