AquaFuge HOB Refugiums

I was thinking of getting one of these and was wondering if they are worth it. Also how do they hang on tank, my tank is 75g Perfecto and they seem to have a fairly thick rim around the top . I would buy the large one 25" but would have to hang it around the center brace on top of tank.

My current tank is 75g with a 20g long sump(30" x12"). I'm going to have to redue my sump because I'm getting a new skimmer (10"x 15" foot print) and that will take up half the sump. I want to keep the other half for the return, so I could leave for 2 or 3 days and not have to worry about pump runnig low because of evaporation.

a refugium is definately a good thing to have. will it fit on your sump instead of the main? i dont know exactly how they fit, but i imagine the larger ones accomidate thicker tanks. afterall a 75g isnt the thickest tank in the hobby

Can you post a link how to build it? I have one of those that I would be willing to try. The one I have was the biggest one they had at the store

You don't really need to build it, just toss some sand/lr/cheato or whatever you want in there and a little light. I wouldn't buy the one you first linked from Dr. Foster's seems way overpriced. For that kind of money you could build a sump w/ a fuge.

I have been using one for about 6 months .
I found it new on ebay w/light and everything included for around $150.00
I personaly found that price reasonable .
i'm really not too big on diy stuff (time vs $$) but paying more than $150.00 is a little rediculous for what it is.....

I used one (large) for about a year with rock-pool mud and LR rubble for Premium Aquatics along with some cheato. It worked ok. A lot of pods and fan worms.

The big problem I had was regulating the flow through it. Mine overflowed a couple times so I took it off.
