aquafuge skimmer mods???

I have a HOB aquafuge with the built in skimmer run by a MJ1200 and was wondering if there are any mods i can do to it that will make the skimmer perform better? It used to skim great but since the last 2 times i have cleaned the collection cup it seems like the performance has dropped a little. During my last water change over the weekend i pulled the pump and cleaned it all up hoping that would help but it is still skimming not so great. i have had to drop the collection cup about 3/4" lower then i usually keep it just to collect anything.

I was thinking about adding an air stone to the skimmer to work with the MJ would this help any? also i know that there are mods to bring the flow out put of a MJ up would this help any or would that raise the flow thru the fuge to much?

I think the stone would help, just make sure it s the wooden fine bubble stone. Good luck!

i think i have the air pump somewhere just need to get a stone then and see how it works.

You can get a wooden stone at petco...hope it works..it should

Better than an airstone would be to mod the MJ1200 into a meshwheel or needle wheel instead.
