AquaGlobe vs Mini-Jet vs Micro-Jet

Jason,
I am setting up a 7 gal mini-bow tank and want to get a small pump for some extra circulation. I know last year there were some problems with the AquaGlobe pumps and I haven't seen any reviews of the replacement pumps. Have you heard of any problems with the newer pumps? Can you recommend one of the above pumps taking into consideration performance, reliability, size, noise, etc?

Also, could one of these pumps be shipped in a box of live rock without adding too much to the shipping charges? I am planning on ordering about 20 lbs of uncured Fiji in a couple months when the weather warms up. I would probably ship by 2-day air.

Thanks,
Ron

Hi Ron,

I would recommend the Aquarium System brand just because i know they last forever. I haven't heard much about the new AquaGlobes, we haven't carried them for a few months, figured i would wait a while. It's a cool little pump, but just too many lockups in saltwater, but might be fixed now.

We could ship with rock, shouldn't really effect shipping much,

Jason,
Thanks for the reply. I was under the impression from your website that you still carried the AquaGlobe AQ-100, as it is still listed. I did notice that you no longer list the bigger AquaGlobe pumps. Do you still carry the AQ-100 or did you stop carrying all AquaGlobe pumps?

If you no longer carry the AQ-100, I guess I just need to decide between the Mini-Jet and the Micro-Jet. Are they the same size? I am looking for the smallest pump I can find so it will not be obtrusive in such a small tank.

Thanks,
Ron

Hi Ron,

I'll have to take that off our website, didn't know they were still on there. We might still have some instock, i'm out today, so i'll have to check over the weekend.

On the Aquarium Systems, the micro or mini is about the same size, just layed out a little different. I think the micro might be a little smaller.
