aquamend tips and tricks....

I picked up some aquamend from home depot to put a frag on some rocks in the tank.. any suggestions on how to do this... thanks

i know it seems pretty simple but just curious about some tips people have

I stinks, it will cause your skimmer to go nuts. Takes a up to 20 minutes to fully set. If you putting a coral on and it will stay on it's own until set, easy. If you want to mount a coral so it goes out sideways from a rock you'll need to hold in place for up to 15 minutes until it sets. I now use the purple stuff from Bulk Reef Supply, it cures faster.

use the loctite 5 min epoxy.

Sometimes you need to use a little dab of gel super glue to keep the coral in place while the epoxy cures.

You guys should check out Apoxie Sculpt. It's reef safe and cheap. The guys in my local forum are raving over this product. I'm ordering the 4 lbs tubs.

Here's an RC thread about gluing frags using a combination of super glue gel and 2-part marine epoxy. I have been very successful with it! Pics included.

what type of coral and what size is the frag?

its a kenya/colt coral... i used the aquamend last night and messed with it until it was almost hard then stuck it to the frag and rock... still holding strong this morning... but now another frag has flipped over..

is your soft coral frag mounted on a frag disc or piece of rubble?

Just put it out there I tried the as seen on TV Mega-putty. Its terrible.
