Aquapod 24 Sprang a Leak

Tanque Verde

Tanque Verde is no more.

I noticed water seeping out from under the tank tonight and I had no choice but to tear her down. I moved some of the rock and all of my livestock to my frag tank and I am cautiously optimistic that we won't have (m)any casualties. But there's a big blank wall were my love used to be. Crushed.

I was forced to put some live rock in a bucket of saltwater out in our storage shed. I added a powerhead for water movement, but the shed is not climate controlled. Will the live rock and live sand survive the Tucson summer temperature swings? Or should I just get rid of it?

Hopefully I'll post an ad in the next few days for overstocked items in my frag tank. I'll definitely have a bunch of frogspawn, some gsp, maybe some shrooms, zoas, a stray piece of SPS etc.

In this moment, there is opportunity.

I feel your pain, since my 220 popped its leak 3 weeks ago my stuff had all been living in 45 gallon rubbermaid tubs in the middle of the living room.

However I can say there is hope, in all that ensued I only lost 1 fish and 3 corals and the tank is back up and running after being repaired.

Good luck and stay strong!
You only lose when you finally give up

I would definitely keep your rock in the house if you can spare a bit of floor space for a week or however long it takes to get a tank up and running. When I bought a big chunk of LR up in Phoenix, they had it in plastic garbage cans in the carport - it was hot. It took a while for the LR to come back to life. I guess the good news is that it did come back, but it required a bit of cycling. I was just setting up, so it was not a problem. If you want to move critters in right away, pamper your rock a bit.

I just had another thought - I have a spare 10-gallon that you could borrow to hold you over if that would help.

Thanks for the advice and the kind offer, Sillygoose. On your suggestion, I've moved the rock indoors. But if you loved me at all, you'd whip out your glass blowing equipment and craft me a new AIO. :D

Love or not - I'm not that kind of glass artist. I do kiln work as well as old-school stained glass. I guess I could make a shallow goldfish bowl (for really flat goldfish).

^That's cool. My wife does stained glass as a hobby. Come to think of it, I bet she could make me a cool stained glass aquarium to tide me over for now.

Seriously, the hours I would save on maintenance. I told my wife about this thread last night and we started brainstorming. This may actually happen. No substitute for a real tank, of course, but I could just drag the garden hose in and flood the bedroom every once in a while if I really got desperate.

Yup, still have the 9g and a big frag tank where I was able to save everything from the aquapod. So don't feel too sorry for me. I also discovered that MD sells replacement AP tanks very reasonably. This whole fiasco did, however, put a hurt on my Profilux savings. Maybe at Christmas.
