I wanted to get a small aqaurium kit for christmas to propagate corals, maybe have 1 or 2 fish in it and to have it look pretty on a nightstand or something. after much research i found out that there are so many different little tanks and i dont know what to choose. Right now im looking at the JBJ lighnting 12 gallon nanocube becuase i beileve it is the best value. But if you have any info or good places to get them or experiences with any of these nanocubes (jbj), bio cubes (oceanic), or the aquapods, or any other small tank kit, any help is aperciated lol. Thanks

biocube is very nice. I just got one for my acans and micros from my 120 system. I think the biocube was my best buy, and they seem to be easier to find locally. chances are you will end up upgrading whatever tank you buy as far as lighting and filter ability. So really jsut getting the tank is the most important part.

I have always gotten my fish stuff mostly from Doctors Foster and Smith. I know you can get both Nano Cubes and Aquapods from them.
I had a 12 gallon nanocube for a year and I thought it was nice.
Now I have a 24 gallon Aquapod and I'm really happy with it too.
While they both have their minor flaws, I don't have anything bad to say about either one.

I too am looking for a small reef tank vs. buying all the odds and ends that are required for a tank set up. I had an 80 gal reef tank eons ago and I have just started thinking about my favorite expense hobby again. I have done the nano vs aquapod thing not I am looking at the Redsea Max a 34 gal tank. Any feedback on these?

IMHO..I would wait until we really see how it works out.

I am a Nanocustoms modded Nanocube fan, but those Cadlights tank looks very good and have good feedback so far.

I like my aquapod. and I have heard about the nanocube busting or having blowout at the corners. good luck

I have biocube 29 and am really happy with it.
Go to nanotuners.com
They have a 144w lighting upgrade with r2 moon lights, a protein skimmer that is custom fit for the back, and a light 9w uv sterilizer. It is great. I purchased these upgrades and am really happy.
