Aquarium art's display only has 2x150 DE?

Speaking of LFS...I was at ocean art off ray rd. yesterday and everything looks kinda sad IMO. Fish don't look too good, and corals are so/so. Not sure if I will bother going back there.

Also I've learned...why bother asking the LFS anything when you have RC?? ;)

I agree, every fish store should make it a priority to have a GORGEOUS display tank. That's what originally got me into SW in the first place...gorgeous displays. Aquarium Art's was one of them.

Does anyone know if matt from all aquatics (closed shop now) sells things online or privately? I heard he closed shop to sell online, but I don't know where online...anyone know?

TOTM for Feb. 2005 is another inspiring example of using less light and still achieving impressive results... http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-02/totm/index.php

here in CA, where energy costs have gone through the roof, conservation is not just environmentally friendly, its also a major pocketbook issue... i've come across more and more people who are choosing to go the more energy efficient route of using a bit less light and smaller pumps for their returns...

Consider this: Clams get most of their food source from the algae they harvest from their tissues. If they have a good supply, they can grow at a fairly good rate. But if they don't have the proper calcium and other nutrients, they will not grow very well even in good light. Having a clam survive and having one grow fast vary depending on the quality of the system. Still, clams can survive in a captive system with PC lighting and do just fine. The Metal Halides are better and as skip points out, will generate better color. I like to put my clams near the surface. They consume a lot of calcium like a SPS tank and should be treated accordingly. One question I have is why chose white light over blue? I love the colors that come out in 20k bulbs. The greens glow more and everything looks brighter. Many SPS corals seem to turn brown under plain white light.

Just a thought,

Peter

Ask Garnet to explain the new light system to you, I bought that show tank and it is enough light, they just run cooler. Different type of lights
