Aquarium Stand

I am looking at a used 6' x 24" tank. Aynone know someone that can build something semi-custom? I need to measure my sump/fuge. I currently can not fit it in my 4' stand but I think that width may also be an issue.

Thanks, Jeff

Typical 2x6 & 2x4 wood frame construction will work without much pain. The stand top should be a least 25" wide to yield interior space of 22" as 2x6 & 2x4 studs are 1.5" wide.

I understand that most off the shelf stands have their limitations (mostly height), but is the width the only area you would like to semi-customize?

When compared to factory, most builds are done to make the stand more user friendly. Typically adjustments are: increase height, add or remove doors, add or remove bracing, color match other furniture/decor, etc. Usually DIY construction is more stout than factory for about the same money and you have something that is more comfortable to work in/around. If you're thinking furniture grade quality, don't be surprised if it ends up costing more than factory:)

For me the limitation of the factory stands has been the width and mainly ability to get a wide sump in the stand.

I am considering making a stand. I will keep the one end open and have at least 23 inches between the supports. I don't have much work room here though. But I will figure out something.
