Aquascaping with egg crate plastic

Hi guys,

I've had my tank up and running for a year now and looking round this site at some of the pics, I really feel too ashamed to put a picture of mine up yet. LOL...

However, it has inspired me to have a proper go at some aquascaping and I'm interested in the results some of you have achieved using egg crate and plastic ties.

Has anyone got pics of their tanks landscaped in this way, or do you find the natural 'big pile of rock' approach looks better?

I'm interested in 'behind the scenes' pics maybe of plastic structures used and how rocks were fastened on etc.

Many thanks.

I have not seen anyone using eggcrate as a decorating medium, but lots of people use acrylic rod and zip ties, epoxy, etc. The only use I have seen for eggcrate in this context is for frag shelves and the like.

If you search for aquascaping you should get plenty of good ideas :)

Eggcrate isn't good for aquascaping, but it can be good to use on the bottom of your tank to create a stable foundation for your base rocks. Having a stable base allows you to create a more interesting reef structure above without having to worry about settling and shifting of the foundation.

Cut the eggcrate to fit, place your base rocks, then add the sand to cover it. It's worked great for me.
