aqueon tank & foam pad?

Well I finished my stand and put my tank on it but there's a few 1/16" gaps that I'm not too pleased about. Does anyone know if I can put an aqueon tank on a high density foam pad? I think they're the pink ones right? 1/2" thick? I guess I"m getting ahead of myself, I should find out if it's ok first, and THEN what to use :D TIA!

I do not know about the foam pad although I have had the same thought. My recommendation is to buy 1/4"x 2" oak strips (already cut to width and milled perfectly) at Lowe's, cut them to length, then apply a good bead of liquid nails. Set the strips in place (you may want to tack them down with brads, be sure to set the heads if you do) and set the tank on the strips. The weight of the tank will hold the strips in perfectly level position and push the glue out evenly under the strips. As the glue cures, it will harden and the strips will be perfect and never move. The bond of the glue is stronger than the wood when applied properly.

Be sure to use construction adhesive (Liquid Nails is a brand name) and not regular wood glue. The construction adhesive comes out much thicker. I think the wood glue would just run out, especially if the gaps are any bigger than 1/16".

Thanks, I ended up doubling up a 40mil piece of shower pan lining and it seemed to be "squishy" enough to fill in my gaps, especially after water was added. Hopefully it'll work long term! (crossing fingers)
