aragocrete simulated sandbed/tank bottom???

So I'm still in early phases (read tankless) of a new system ...

Cogitation phase, mostly.

Acquiring some equipment and mental preparation.

I was planning an in-wall system viewable from two sides, about 200 gallons. I personally love the way coralline looks on natural stuff, but not really the way it looks on artificial surfaces like walls and floors. So I was planning on making aragocrete walls with some imbedded pieces of dry rock for a more natural look on the two other non-viewing walls. For the bottom I was going to go with a ~1" sandbed. There's also a closed loop planned. So in an effort to keep sand from flying every-which-way, has anyone built a system with a "fake" sandbed. Portland cement mixed with fine aragonite sand and maybe some coarser stuff comes to mind. Any drawbacks? Maybe harder to clean? If the bottom was a rigid surface, it'll probably grow coralline on it. I guess that might look weird, but perhaps not. I personally think it would look better than a coralline coated bare bottom tank, but not as good as a real sandbed ...
