Are 250s strong enough to put sps's at ground level. I'm thinking of getting . Soleset HQI 2 x 250w with T5 . Does anyone have them?

Depends what you mean by ground level. The import information is how many inches the light will be from the corals. 400W > 250W > 175W as far as penetration. Basically the stronger the light the further it can be away from the light. Something to keep in mind is that some sps prefer more light than others.

True, I guess I will have to look into it.
The tank is 25 deep. With about 1 to 2in sand and probably about 5or 6 in away from the water. So you could say about 30in.

I have gone with one 250 watt and two 75 vho actincs on a 31 tank. But be mind full that I will have ozone on the tank and it will also have white startboard on the bottom. good luck on your choice. I also went went with set up because electric is .21 a kilowatt instead of 400watts plus 150 watts of actincs.

I have many colorful sps down at the bottom of my BB sps tank. But I run ozone and have.01 po4 . 250de 14kphx

the kelvin (or more specifically the PAR) of the bulb plays a huge role in how deep you can keep the corals.
