Are 6025's a good choice for this set-up?

I have a 54 gallon AGA RR corner tank. I run a 700 gph return pump and have a 50 and a 300 gph powerhead in the display. The return is angled to move along the the side and across the front curved glass. The small PH is placed on the side that the return flows along towards the front of the tank, about half way down from the top and is flowing below and diagonal to the return. The 300 gph PH is on the opposite side from the return and converges with it near the middle of the front of the tank. I am considering replacing these 2 PH with the 6025's. (I believe I would recoup the purchase price of the pumps in 1.33 years just in the cost of electricity to run them. This does not account for the cost savings in chiller run time during the warmer months of the year.) Do you think that 2 of the 6025's would be overkill in this tank?

Not at all, and if you intend to keep SPS I would do 6045s or 55s. I have a 6025 and a Seio 820 in my 37 and it barely cuts it. I do have a bare bottom SPS dominated tank though. I am waiting for the 6055 to come out.

The flow is wide and gentle, and the mounting bracket will accomodate almost any angle so even the more powerful models probably would not disturb your bed too much. Your corals will appreciate the extra flow.

Carmie,

What are the dimensions of your tank? I have a 75 gallon and I just put a 6025 in my tank. It is adequate for what I need it to do, but I think the 6045 would be better. But if your tank is less than 18 inches front to back then the 6025s might be fine.

I have almost this exact set up; a 50 gallon (about) corner tank, 29" sides, 20" tall. I replaced the maxijets with 6025s and the flow is much better. It won't be overkill, unless you're looking for very gentle flow. My tank is noticably cooler as well, just in time for winter! (I'll appreciate it next summer)
