Are all white sebaes bleached?

Just wondering because I've seen white ones for sale as white sebae w/purple tips. Are there actually white ones? Or are they just bleached?

That's what I thought. What about green? Or "ultra" green?

If it's only sebae you are talking about ( H.crispa) then you may ocassionally come across one with a greenish tint but when I say tint, that's all it is. Any flourescent green will be dyed. Usually crispa are some shade of brown except for the pink/purple morph which is exceptionally beautiful but also exceptionally rare. There are naturally occurring flourescent S.gigantea and haddoni and as gigantea can develop long tentacles I suppose one could be mistaken for a sebae at first glance. But again, long tentacled flourescent green gigantea would most probably be found in a hobbyists tank rather than an LFS.

Not exactly. It is not uncommon for H. crispa to have a fluorescent green oral disk. The green doesn't usually go up the tentacles very far, but the disk is definitely green.

Something else to consider when you're looking at an anemone is the opacity of the tentacles. If they're really transparent, they're showing serious signs of bleaching.

Crispas that look the way you described them more often than not end up tan colored anemones with purple tips…if they survive.

Mine was all white when I got it but looked super healthy otherwise but after some time in insufficient lighting it turned to a nice tan with almost white tips. I just upgrade my lighting to a 4 bulb tek 44. I cannot wait to see what the future holds.
