Are Aquactinic lights any good???

Which model? I have th 5x54w T5 and love it. More output than the 6-bulb tek and quiet. Solar Flare has great output but fails the bang for the buck test imho.

I am thinking of the ones with the metal halides and t-5 48in. Are the halid fixtures good??

How are the tank mounting brackets??? They look cool and it does not say the bulbs that come with it.

I've got the legs (riser brackets) for the constellation and they are pretty nice powder coated black and fairly small an unobtrusive. Height cannot be adjuted though.

On my maristar the legs are large bracket like legs but height can be adjusted.

I have a Solar Flare. It was one of the first ones made. I had an issue with it (my fault not theirs).

Both Scott at www.aquariumspecialty.com and Tom the owner of www.aquactinics.com were very helpful and quickly responsive (within hours) . At one point Tom said that one of my icecap ballasts may have been bad. I was worried when he gave me the number to call icecap but then I talked to andy at icecap.....HE responded very quickly, said that he'd 2 day a replacement to me without hesitation after I gave him the serial # etc. Turned out that one of my T5 tubes was not securely seated and when I got it right, the problem vanished.

In all, I believe that we probably spend over $500 on average in lighting (mixed reef / sps tanks).
If you spend more than that with aquactinics, you will get your moneys worth in product (better reflectors, good balasts and good lights) and support, without a doubt.

If I set up another tank, I'll use an aquactinics fixture.

I have 2 of the 175w 48 inch (MH/T5) fixtures on my 120g tank. I upgraded the ballasts to the icecap electronics and am using the Iwasaki 15k bulbs. It is overkill to the extreme. I have to be carefull of what corals I put in the upper portion of the tank or they fry within a day or two.

They are really well built and I really like the units.
