Are Blenny's hard to raise?

I wanted to pick up either a scooter or lawnmower blenny from the LFS for my 60gal reef with mainly LPS and softies. I have a yellow eye tang, a pair of percs, and a royal gramma right now. Are they hard to raise? What do they eat? Thanks!

I'm not so sure on the scooter, but the lawnmower needs lots, and lots of algae. That what they eat, all day long.

I would put the blenny in a tank that is established, at least 6 months. He'll get along fine with your existing fish.

They are also fun to watch!

Keep away from the scooter for now. They're not really blennies, they're dragonets, and dragonets eat only live copepods, unless on a rare occasion you get them to eat prepared foods.. You need a tank at least 2 years old and a working refugium to sucessfully house a dragonet.

The Lawnmower Blenny will only do well if it will eat foods other than algae in the tank. Some never do and end up starving. I had a breakout of hair algae and got one. He took care of the algae within a week. Then he slowly starved. He wouldn't eat anything else and I tried everything. I would only get another one if I knew it was already eating prepared foods.
