Are cleaner shrimps really needed?

So I have a 75g reef I a a cleaner shrimp and a peppermint shrimp and it always a nightmare when it comes time to feed my corals. I just can't seem to get them to leave them alone. I try distracting them but tey want the food corals have. Last night I caught my peppermint shrimp nipping at one of my hammers and saw him cut a couple tentacles off. I've had it with them are they really that important in a reef or could I be successful without them?

They really dont have any true role in the aquarium. While peppermints might take care of some aiptasia, I have found that all shrimp are purely ornamental when it comes down to it.

Okay good. I had aptasia at one point that's why I had the peppermint but they took care of that. And now they just seem to do more damage than anything. First chance I get they're out of there! Thanks
