are clowns really reef safe?

i have mixed opinions on weather clowns are reef safe or not

What criteria are people using to define clowns as not reef-safe? I suppose if you really like amphipods, and count a fish that eats them as non-reef-safe, then that would work. Or if you are talking about a goniopora only reef (which I wouldn't recommend for many other reasons).

They can sometimes irritate corals, but I would put them very near the safe end of the reef-safe spectrum.
