Are Hikari Prazipro and NFP Praztastic the same product?

I have a fish with skin flukes and I want to treat with Prazipro. I've heard good things about Prazipro in a main display tank.

I've not found Prazipro locally but came across a product made by National Fish Pharmaceuticals called "Praz-Tastic."

Are they the same? Looks like the key ingredient in both is praziquantel but I want to make sure before I go ahead and dump this in my display tank.

NFP Praziquantel/Praz-Tastic: http://www.fishyfarmacy.com/products4.html (scroll down)
Hikari Prazi-Pro: http://uskoi.com/prazipro.htm

Advice appreciated, thanks!

Well my guess would be yes they should be similar. Praziquantal is praziquantal just different ways to bottle it.

Nothing wrong with it; I just couldn't find any in the time I had to hit up my LFS's on Saturday. So I went with the powdered Praziquantel/"Praztastic" .. so it turns out there is a difference, you have to dissolve the powder in ethyl alcohol (aka vodka) for it to become soluble in water .. and even then I didn't get complete dissolution. So Prazipro has an advantage in that in liquid form it's "ready to use."

Anyhow found some on Sunday though, so now I have a choice should I elect to do a second dosage.

Thanks for the thoughts!

Praztastic- which is all I use now - is PURE praziquantel powder...prazipro is only 5% praziquantel...praztastic has given me better results...IMO prazipro is too watered down to be effective as treatment at the stated dosage...I have tripled the dosage on prazipro with no obvious side effects..If I'm only slightly over with the praztastic I notice the fish stop eating -It's powerful stuff !..also I spike the praztastic by mixing it with a little vodka (as per nat'l fish pharm suggestion)...HTH

Ok, thanks. Makes sense.

So, it looks like I need to do a second treatment, although looking considerably better, there are a few suspicious spots still. I forgot to turn off my skimmer right away so I'm sure I lost some out the skimmate.

When I added it, there was still a lot of particulate. So I wonder if I didn't use enough vodka or if I didn't mix it long enough (I used about a half shot glass of vodka for 3/4 teaspoon and I just sorta shook it for 3 minutes to mix it together). Any suggestions on how much vodka per 1/4 teaspoon, or how long to mix? Or how best to mix it (I actually have a blender I could use ... good idea/bad idea?)

Suggestions welcome! Thanks..

Ooops, forgot to ask. Should I do a water change and reinstate the carbon for a little while before doing a second treatment? Or can I go ahead and do a second treatment right away? I did the first treatment on Saturday, it's Monday now, so only two days in.

DELPHINUS :do a 50% water change in between each week (seven days) of treatment...its been mentioned on here before that (4) 7 day treatments consecutively are best since praziquantel does'nt kill the fluke eggs... hth
