Question regarding an Iwaki 100 aquarium pump versus a 1 hp pool pump for a 225 gallon tank with a sump on lower level pushing 15 feet head height. Any suggestion or thoughts between them or others...

I have been running a pair of iwaki`s 100s for awhile no problems worth the money my 2 cents also make sure that pool pump has the right seals for saltwater

I posted a similar question months ago and based on feedback from many directions went with the PanWorld - so far I have no complaints.

I know people who use pool pump with no problem, they bought them used, and when they start to hear some bearing nose, they hang the spare one so that way they have enough time to change the bearings, normaly the bearing worn out about the same time as in the pool.
The big deal is how much will you paid in the end.

IMO, Iwakis are great pumps but a little overpriced for what you get. Dolphins and sequence will give you higher output for less $$.

As with most thimgs you need to compare the pumps on their merits also when comparing an iwaki to another pump then it needs to be considered that the iwakis are true mag drive pumps so the water circuit is fully isolated from the motor apart from a magnetic linkage.

I use iwakis as returns and would buy one again.
