Im So Confused!
Woke up today, lights came on and then i feed them just like always. However today my female true perc is hovering over this one spot in the reef. She has been there for the last 2 hours and every so often she will look at the rock and will bite it or pick at it. she stays with in a inch of this one spot also. i read to look for a tube coming out the bottom of the bodies. I have and it appears that they both have tubes coming out. Both are very tiny tubes but just not sure if its waist or not. Im wanting to bread them and raise the fry. In fact i just placed an order yesterday for phytoplankton, rotifers. and in the process of setting the culture station up. Should i be expecting soon or am i just jumping the gun?

Hard to tell. I've had pairs act the way you mention for over a year before spawning. I've also looked in to find a pair with a huge nest after not showing any preliminary signs. In any case, the first few clutches from a newly spawning pair may not yield positive results as the pair may need a few attempts to work out all of the logistics between laying, fertilizing, fanning, etc... However, I do think it would be beneficial for you to start working with phyto/rots so when the time finally arrives, you'll have those skills perfected.

im not worried about the first batch, i need a little time to get my phyto and rots going anyways. im not ready for fry yet. however im hopeing the first few batches would come and go while im in the process of getting ready. she is still there in that spot tho. im hoping!!
