Are my t 5s too strong for bta?

My bta onlys blooms out at night when the t 5s aren't on at all. But as soon as the lights come on. It shrinks up. I have had the bta for almost 3 months now. He first started out on the top of the rocks but has made his way down to the sand bed. Is this normal.

at night my bta will blow up in search for food but other than that he only fluctuated when he was unhappy

No, it's not normal. It may take a while for your anemone to acclimate to your t-5s, though generally t-5s are a good light for BTAs.
