are pipefish good in a reef tank

I think pipefish are great in reefs. They feed on the pods, many will eat prepared foods, and are great at keeping away the red bugs. JME

As long as there are no stinging animals such as anemones, they would be fine.

there are certain ones that yes are ment to be housed in reef setups while from what i've read there are other that do not really need a reef setup to thrive.

Dragon faced pipes, definitely and I have a large RBTA but they are smart enough like the tangs and gobies to avoid it. Dragon faced pipefish are found in reefs, so are well suited for the reef aquarium.

Good point ! I have a 6 inch tube anemone, that could take a pipe fish. didn't think about that......but then again that's why I posted this poll:thumbsup:

Tube anemones don't eat fish. You would be worried about true anemones like carpets etc.

I don't think so .If it can hold it ,it will eat it! being that pipefish are not strong swimmers i would bet on the tube.

My dragon face pipe fish just died yesterday after being in my tank for over 3 months. It looked like it was doing well, and I was adding Trigger pods in regularly for it to feed on. It's too bad because I really liked that pipefish too.

ive got pretty good flow in my sps tank and pipefish does just fine with it

from what i've read flow wont bother the pipefish as much as it would a seahorse. They will most likely find the quieter spots in the tank.
