I was just reading a thread on RC that states some Rubbermaid storage containers can leach chemicals into the water. I use a Rubbermaid Duratote to mix my saltwater. Is this a problem???

I use a rubbermaid container to mix all of my salt changes!! I would recommend mixing up a batch of saltwater in the new rubbermaid container and throwing it =away. THen make another and use and you will be fine!!!

I've had the same saltwater mixing container for a long time. I am wondering if storing the saltwater in the rubbermaid container is not a good idea? Sometimes I will have leftover saltwater and I will save it. I then use it on the next water change. This is a bit concerning after reading. =(

I've never had a problem and I have used the containers for water changes, sumps, refugiums, and breeding tanks.

JME, which is about 6 years of rubbermaids ;)

Rubbermaid Brutes are made with a food-safe plastic. Ive been using them for nearly 10 years for both mixing water and long term storage. I have never had a problem, nor have I ever heard of anyone who was able to determine that a given problem could be traced back to their Brute.

Id say you are safe :)
