Are there any oysters that are reef safe, and will they survive? Are there any in the aquarium trade?

Here's my spiny little buddy. I think he's really cool, looks like a wierd rock. I have read that he is of course a filter feeder and I add filter food( marine snow, phtyo. ext.) but I have alot of filter feeders in my tank. here's a pic.

I have a cockscomb oyster that came attached to the base of a mille colony I bought. When I first spotted it, I mistakenly thought it was some kind of unusual clam. After doing some research I found out that it's an oyster.

I have a thorny oyster about 4'' round (more the size of a large orange) and I wished I gave more thought before buying it. Got at LFS, who only had the one. I'm trying to fight a hair algae problem in a tank I want to keep coral and trying to keep it fed at the same time, -difficult. Especially since I don't know how to tell if it's getting enough food or slowly dying. I'm currently trying to set up a seperate tank for animals who like "dirtier" water. Don't mean to jump on this thread but just how do you know they aren't starving?
