Are these new polyps or something else?

Please, need some help. These dark red "polyps" on my closed zoa, are they new polyps that are appearing, or, something else? If they are something else, any ideas of what they are?

On another rock with a different zoa colony I also found one of them, this time not on the zoa but on the rock:
