Are these Zoas or Palys? Any idea what kind?

The big orange ones. They were in the zoa section but they are a lot bigger than all my other zoas incuding the yellow skirted pink ones they came attached to (right under them). They are not very fast growing but they are quite striking. Any idea what they are?

Thanks David and Cloak :)

Still not sure though......zoa or paly?

Is there some defining characteristic I could base it on? All I know is the stalks are longer than any other zoas I have. Though they were in the zoa section and the store very, VERY rarely has anything but your typical blah green palys.....they are large like my magician palys and they are sprouting a new one in the same fashion.

I guess my question would boil down to, how do we tell the difference? Besides our obvious already "named" specimins?

I am leaning towards extra large zoa of some sort, I guess I just didn't know they got that big. The pic even makes them look a bit smaller than they are.

i have some almost EXACTLY liek this. mine are 110% orange though, very slow growing. i was told they were palys by my friend that gave them to me. if you dont mind, how much did you pay for them? my friend said they were a more expensive variety but i have never seen any for sale anywhere

I have not seen any like them either, and the place I go has sooooo many zoas (not many palys but many zoas). Anyways, they were in the $10 section. But this store is chhheeeaaap so I can't tell if that's a good guide really. They have hundreds of zoa frags, two sections $5 and $10. He only charges more if he just got them in and has not had a chance to grow any out and frag any. I picked these because they were completely different from all the rest....kind of like they maybe were not meant to be there.

I had a major bryopsis algae problem for a month there so they were covered and did not have a chance to grow but it's gone now (thank god by the way, that stuff is EVIL) and since it's been gone they have sprouted a new one this week. The two in the pic below them have been the same size since purchase, it came with 4 total. The 2 large orange ones a 2 small (well, "regular" medium size) yellow skirted pinks for $10. At another store in my town I would have at least payed $20 just knowing their prices...and online who knows. I can get 50 fire and ice zoas for $10 at 'my' store or pay like $50 online. Online prices are insane.
