Are they finally spawning?

My very own clownfish are having cleaning fit, and are uninterested in eating.

The female, who is huge, and whose ovipositer is extended and larger than I have ever seen it, is making passes at the bottom corner of the front glass. The male is acting confused, and is alternately cleaning a nearby rock, or else on top of the female, or along side some of the time. They are both very interested in this corner. I hope they spawn on the aquarium glass, 'cause that will make placing a tile there very easy.

Timing could not be better. I will not be tempted to collect nests until we get back from Italy. So my fish can get some practice and start laying really healthy nests. My friend, whose clownfish supply me with eggs to raise thus far, will be moving his household this summer, so his clownfish will most likely be out of commission for a while. Perhaps mine will be in the swing of things by then.

It will be great to have an in house source! I am so excited!

Cheers,
Kathy

Mama was not huge this morning, back to her regular size. She was also not too hungry. I think they ate the eggs, because I can see no sign of them and the male is lying around the toadstool without a care in the world.

I guess they are just warming up for the real thing.

Someday.

My Clarks only did that once before they got it right. I think the male ater most of mine though, fem was fat when I left for work, Male was fat when I got home ;) Maybe that's why he is laying around, he's stuffed!

I bet you have eggs in two weeks...at least I HOPE you have eggs. After all the work you've put in, you deserve your own! My new batch will should hatch tomorrow or the next day. After skipping a few, I'm almost as excited as I was with the first batch.

Good luck...feed 'em well!

SURE it is Kathy ;) We've heard it before LOL, now yours are going to lay, and you'll just HAVE to raise the first set...and so on. You might as well start looking for a fry-sitter now, we all know you will need one :D
