are windows near a tank bad?

As I try to sort out the location for my new tank set up there is haggling to be done with my roomates. One of the few viable spots is near a southside window in our livingroom. Will this cause me any trouble?

Mine is right next to a window and gets full sun for several hours a day. The side of the tank that is closest to the window gets a little bit more algae growth but nothing out of control. On a plus side, the corals on that side of the tank seem to do just a little bit better too.

Tom Sandercock (I think it is) in HP has a windowsill reef tank -- I think he calls it the $100 reef tank? May have recently done a CMAS presentation but I haven't been able to make meetings of late.

Yes, he did a presentation at the Nov CMAS meeting. Very interesting! I have one near the wondow--it's like I have MH on there, because it shimmers when the sun shins thru! There is a bit more algae, so I'm buying more snails.
