ARM PH Confusion

I am switching over a SPS tank from Kalk to CR and I am trying to figure a good effluent PH. I am using ARM and I have heard to keep it at 7.5. Im used to hearing 6.7/6.8 to dissolve the media. Is it really 7.5?

hehe

if your tank is consuming Ca/Alk at a faster rate, you need a lower pH in your reactor to dissolve the media

got it?

What would be a standard to follow? In a SPS dominated tank, I'd assume the calcium/Alk would have to be pretty high.

is everyne using ARM with those PH set points that low?

anything below 6.8 and my ARM will start to turn to mush

yeah im runing arm ....

i had it drop to 6.3 once becuz my effluent drip line got clogged and it didnt turn to mush

if you shake up your reactor does it get cloudy?

just curious?
i wont ever go belopw 6.8 with ARM on mine

I switched from ARM because of mush problems. there are many, many other types of "good" CR media out there! BTW, keep your kalk water for make up.. there are many benefits of running both!

It depends, are you measuring the 6.8 PH of the effluent? if you are then the PH could be much lower in the main chamber which is why it's turning it to mush.

I use my PH probe in the main chamber and it's set at 6.5- 6.6 and it's been as low as 6.4 and my ARM never came even close to turning to mush.
