Arothron stellatus growth

I have a 7-8" stellatus puffer that I got a couple months ago. He's beautiful and eats like a pig! My question is how much can I expect him to grow over the next year? 6 inches? More? I know there are a few people on here that have one, was looking for some personal experiences. Thanks

They can top nearly 4 feet in the wild.... Even if he only hits 3/4 of that you have a HUGE eating machine on your hands. Growth in most arothrons tends to be most in the first couple years then slows over the following years.

I know they get about 4 ft, anyone know what to expect in a yr in an aquarium?

When I got mine he was 3in in a year 9in two years 13ins 2 1/2 now only 14in so he is slowing down

so maybe 5-7" in a year from now? hes 8"now, that'll make him over a foot. ive had him a couple months and i swear hes grown and inch!

small tip for this situation (or any "buy a juv fish and let em grow")

Get a digital camera and take pictures of the fish once a month with some frame of reference for size. You will be shocked at how much they actually grow.....

Ours was 3 inches when we got him and 12 inches when we sold him a couple of years later. He would bite other fish in a feeding frenzy. We got rid of him after he killed a couple of fish that way.
