Feeding behavior in the Hawaiian Zoanthids Palythoa and Zoanthus.
This paper has some observations from the wild and feeding stimulations and experiments with Palythoa and Zoanthus.
The paper shows that Zoanthus species do eat when they are offered food. Guess what? Fish!
The food is actually digested.
The density of shrimp offered had impact in the amount the polyps eat.
That should sustain the target feeding choice for our home aquaria.
It confirms the already known attitude of our Palythoa spp. in regards to grabbing offered food and digesting it.
Very interesting article to me.
