ASM 2 pump problem

Posted this in the URS forum and thought I would post this here as well. I have a ASM 2 that I modded with a gate valve. Love this skimmer. Problem is the pump burned out. So I was thinking, could I use any pump and hook up the air inductor to it? I have a mag 9.5 sitting around from my pond filter or should I go smaller like a mag 7 or 5? I could not find a flow rating on the sedra 3500.

Not sure. I just recently had an asm skimmer pump burn up too. I'm having a hard time trying to find a replacement.

Thanks for the response Matt. I can find one but there like $90 to $100 with shipping. I would like to use something I have laying around like my 9.5. I was also wondering if I could use another cheaper brand pump. Seems like these pumps are notorious for burning out after very little use.

In theory any pump should work with any skimmer body as long as you can get the correct fittings, are able to draw in enough air, and the pump supports the head pressure if you need to restrict it in order to control the water level

Thanks Adam like I said I couldn't find the output numbers for the 3500 sedera that came with it that’s why I was wondering if there could be too much flow or pressure. I think I'm going to try it nothing to lose I guess.
