ASM G2 or MRC-1

Hey guys, my first post to RC anyways on to business, been in the hobby around 4 years now, just setup a 180 Gallon system and need some opinions, i have a choice between a ASM G2 or a MRC-1, which do you prefer and why? Thanks :thumbsup:

The G2 is too small for a 180.

Yeah G2 rated 200 gal and MRC 1 is 175 Gallon. I Like the build quality of MRC better myself. But ive heard MRC can be upgraded?

Yes Mrc skimmers can be upgraded via an extra injector or using and extension tube to give a longer reaction time. I am running an MR2 and love it. It is a beast of a skimmer.

Yeah thats what i had heard, and yeah ive seen several MRC'S in action, but never any ASM's. Always thought the MRC's Were impressive

Its very power hungry, not as efficient as the newer needle wheel designed skimmers. It sure can pull off plenty of nasty goo though.

yeah ive heard about that, but its worth it if it works well, So far everything and everyone pushing for the MRC skimmer :fish1:

i ran a g3 on my 150. great skimmers. i now run a mr-2r on my 210. great skimmer too but def takes some time to get it adjusted. if you want a set it and forget, def go with the needle wheel IMO.

Ive been using a needle wheel Reef Octopus for 2 years and loved it, and i dont mind taking time to adjust one if its worth the time, which did you like better if you had to choose?
