ASM G3 skimmer pump not working!

I have got a reef on the line here that just started to really grow and I dont want to hurt it, anyways this morning I unplugged the pump feeding the skimmer and it would not restart after, I checked that it was still getting power, just nothing would happen. I can feel small vibrations in the pump when its plugged in and I have removed the cover to find blockages but I found none.

This is very frustrating for me because I have only been using the skimmer for 6 months. Help is appreciated if there is something I can do to fix it. Any of you guys know if ASM customer service is any good?

Thanks,

Eric

Try cleaning the pump.

Take the pump and impeller apart and soak them in a 50% solution of white vinegar for 2-4 hours. Be careful when removing the impeller, the ceramic shaft can break if your not careful. Rinse well and assemble the pump.

All pumps and powerheads should be cleaned in this manner at least every two - three months. Depending on your Calcium and Alkalinity levels cleaning maybe required more often.

Very good advice and almost definitely the problem.

How much water is the pump in? I'll bet that if you pull the pump up toward the surface while it is plugged it that it will start up no problem.........at least that's what I had to do with my Sedra all the time.
