ASM G3 Skimmer question and Refugium plants ?

OK - two things now that I have my tank up and running.

I have my ASM G3 with a recirc mod and the feed mod - I also placed a gate vale mod on it - however I think there is something messed up with the way I placed the pieces together as I never get the bubbles to go up the cup unless I raise the water level up real high and then I get lots of water. SO any one with pics or expiriance with them let me know. My gate valve is assembled as follows: 12" comming out of the normal return tube "T" on top of the 12" then a short 4" section on the top of the "T", out the side of the "T" is the gate valve and then a 90 deg down elbow and then a final piece to get the return under the water level.

Next:

I would like to place some plants in the refugium - what are good species and who has some clippings I could grab in the buffalo area?

i would put the gate valve before the "t".
12" then the gate valve then the T and then to the sump

Caulerpa racemosa grows like a weed but might "go sexual". gracillaria's & ulvaceus grow slowly but are excellent tang fodder. Chaeto is the old stand by. It doesn't grow as fast as the racemosa but its less likely to go sexual.

My fuge is mostly racemosa and generates solid bricks on algae on a regular basis.
