Now that this popped back up, I've been thinking of doing it myself but was wondering what the long term durability of the mesh was. I read about people replacing the mesh monthly. Any feedback on that?

ya im back and forth on this mod and as you can tell i went far back it was posted in 2007 so i dont no whats best the purple pinwheel or the mesh and now that you said being replaced once a month?!?!?! is this true hope someone can help us out

Purple pinwhell works on one pump, and it's not the pump that comes on asm skimmers

i have a heavily modded reef octopus nw-200 mesh air intake pump intake gate valve and i have my mesh about 3 months and just take it out and clean it it stay's together very well
