asm skimmer has gone nuts

I normally empty it about every three days. It has been dialed in for at least a month. I emptied it tonight and washed it out as usual but now it has filled up in a little over 3 min each time I empty it.
I have the gate mod on it so it hasn't changed and nothing major or minor changed in the tank.
I did change out the sponge filter in baffles between skimmer and pump.
But nothing else
any ideas or is this normal?

have u added anything new to the tank. epoxied any corals. mine usually go berzerk if i use epoxy. ramiro

Have you had your hands in the tank any more than usual? The oil from your skin can cause them to go a little crazy.

when you change the filter if you move the skimmer in the sump you stir some stuff that sit there and sometime it's happened shut of the skimmer for one hour and then restart again or lower the gate to minimum after the skimmer will stabile again start to adjust the level back.

Check to make sure that the air inlet is clear. On aspirator style skimmers when the air intake is decreased the water output is increased. So if something restricts the air inlet the pump will pump more water and the water level in the skimmer will increase.
