ASM Skimmer modification idea

Has anyone tried putting a 90 degree elbow on the output of the pump inside the skimmer facing down? I noticed while looking at my G3 today that the pump just shoots the water straight into the skimmer and there were no bubbles below this point. There is another 6 inches or so below this. Wouldn't there be more reaction time for the bubbles if they were shot down towards the bottom of the skimmer?

I put a 45, but I am not sure it does anything.

One downside might be that it could force some air bubbles out the skimmer output

I tried the same thing and it can/will force micro bubbles out the riser tube.

Other than that, did it work or did you take it out?

I am not so concerned if some of the bubbles go out of the riser tube if it skims better.
