My female ocellaris is starting to scare me.
I recently took all of the rocks out of the tank to pick off green bubble algae. By the time I put the rocks back, she had bitten my glove at least 20 times.
A few minutes later I looked down into the tank, and my face was about 9 inches from the surface of the water. All the pumps were off and the water was still.
The female slowly made her way closer and closer to the surface of the water, and it was getting creepy. I suddenly heard a splash and knew it was her. I closed my eyes and jumped back. I don't know how far she jumped, but I'm sure she wanted to bite me in the face.
An hour later I looked down into the water figuring that she had calmed down. Again....a splash and I jumped back.
I know the females are aggressive (she started laying eggs a few months ago, but there were none in the tank at the time), but is it normal for them to try to jump out of the tank to bite a person's face?
Anyone else experience this?
Eric
