Assistance on choice of fish

I have a 100g DT with a 40g sump with skimmer and fuge.

100lbs of liverock and about 3" sandbed.

Currently I have Mexican turbos and Atlantic turbo snails and some Nass. snails. Along with some scarlet and blue leg hermits.

I also have one fire shrimp, one cleaner shrimp and a yellow watchman goby/pistol shrimp pair.

I am having trouble deciding on my next fish.

I would like to have: pair of clowns
lawnmower or scooter blenny
firefish goby
yellow tang or MAYBE hippo (might be pushing it) purple basslet
flame angel (maybe)

any advice or suggestions of fish not listed is welcomed and appreciated :)

Well if your tank is covered, you might consider fairy and flasher wrasses. Nice and colorful, lots of activity.

Tank does have a canopy but there is a 3"-4" gap in the back running the entire lenght of the tank/canopy.

But depending on which fish I get I will have that covered with something to help prevent them from jumping out.

Thanks for the mention of the wrasse, my g/f and I are just unable to decide the next choice lol.

I will get a tang at some point, just want tank to become more established and if i choose a yellow tang, would like for it to be placed in after most of inhabitants. Since they can sometimes be bullys to others

i'd say go with a pair of perculas. i love mine. hardy fish, not aggressive.

don't make the mistake that i made (twice)
i put a lawnmower blenny in my tank, and watched it starve. if you don't have visible algae growing on the rocks (and i'm sure your turbo snails are keeping it clean) it won't find food. i was unable to get mine to eat anything else.

edit: another cool fish, since you havea nice sandbed, is a diamond goby. but beware, they can jump.

Go for maroon clowns they are great little fish. Just make sure they are the last add ins you put there. Some people have problems with them being territorial toward other fish if you add them first. Also a Coris Wrasse. I have one that is really colorful and very playful. I dont know that much about tangs yet. I dont have a large enough tank for them. I've seen the Firefish Goby and they are really cool lookin. Good luck

Throw in a Leopard Wrasse to top the mix off. Also check out the Starry blenny. I went with one of those instead of the lawnmower. Stay away from the Hippo Tang though. Mine has already outgrown my 6' 125g. They get big fast and can wreak havoc on your bio-load.

Here is my leopard and starry

if you do clown pair i think it would be rare and unique to try to pair up an orange and black clown since its possible.

yellow tang....and YELLOW belly hippo or swap out the yellow tang for aaa

i have a lawnmower and i love him!

instead of red firefish...go with purpule they are more rare and colorful

hmmmm oh and some anthiases...they have loads of color and are pretty and its what you want in a pretty big tank such as yours.

this is just my bag of beans...

I was in your same situation not so long ago. You need some fish that help your tank and some that make it look pretty. Some fish hide alot and some are out and about.

Purple FireFish are aways out and are very pretty but you are not supposed to put them with other firefish. If you want more than one get the red and white ones.

A flame hawk is nice because it does not have a swim blatter and it goes in and out of the rocks and hangs out and looks at you all day. It is kind of like a puppy.

Diamond gobies are a most in my book. They are always sifting sand and making you sand bed look clean. But they do jump out ALOT. I have had MANY.

If you do tangs then buy all the tangs you want at once because they tend to be aggressive if established.

A pair of clownfish is way better to get then just one. If you buy one it is hard to add another. They are aggressive towards new ones as well.

The flame angel is known for picking priceless corals. If you plan to get deeply into this hobby (which you will) you may not want to go with one.

Blennys and Gobys all usually are helpful to the aquarium and do not hurt your bio load real badly.

I would do a sixline wrasse over the flame angel.

Scooter blennys need an established tank.

my suggestion along with what you already want anyways is:
1. pair of clowns (any type of clown is cool, but if you want something less usual then try to get a pair of onyx, picassos, or snowflakes, or even just b/w ocellaris are cool.)
2. purple firefish are cool too (a school of them is actually cooler)
3. a smallish tang (yellow is a good choice, but I'd go for the purple instead since they're the same size fish.)

That should be good for now...... if you're only adding in a pair of clowns, 1 firefish, and 1 yellow or purple tang, you can safely add them in a day or two, if your tank is already cycled and all params are good.

I would save the tang and the blenny for last. I also really like AquaReeferMan's suggestions on the additions to your list. makes me wish I had a bigger tank

Make sure your using a QT.

My .02 :)
